Are you Lucky?

Hey, you are really a lucky person!!!!

How many times did u hear this by referring you as lucky by your friends or relatives?

I guess everyone would have faced such situation in their life. We may appear as lucky to others based on some situations because we were good in some art or game or some work which others couldn’t do in an easy way like how we did.

But tell yourself, can you be considered yourself as lucky just because you have some special art in you?

Can you be considered as Lucky because you look beautiful?

Can you be considered as Lucky because you play some musical instrument in an exceptional way?

There are many such questions depending on the person in which he or she is specialized with. I am trying my bit to figure out what is being lucky. Here it is,

Case-1: Let us consider some examples, if you say that Sachin Tendulkar is Lucky? Does everyone agree that it is purely luck based success? What about the efforts he applied towards his targets?  Is Amitab Bacchan lucky to be the most successful celebrity in India? Is Aiswarya Rai Lucky to be beautiful? Is Dhirubhai Ambani lucky to become one of the wealthiest?

Case -2: Let us consider the other side, in our daily life when we visit any place, we would see many people suffering with no shelter, some people have some physical ailment, some people beg for filling their stomach, some people cannot even do works on their own because of their disability, etc. Are they unlucky?

Now by comparing the above two cases one would easily figure out that people who belong to Case-1 category are Lucky and that of Case-2 are unlucky. But it is not so, everyone has their own concerns in their own lifestyle. Sachin Tendulkar, Amitabh Bachan, Aiswarya or Ambani’s have not gained their popularity overnight. They made the best of their efforts to achieve what they desired for. I agree that they all reached a point where they can be called as Lucky because they are wealthiest people. Nevertheless, being wealthy alone cannot be considered as being lucky.

In Case-2, we can say that they are unlucky, but why their lives have become so difficult to live on? Their life is in such an unfortunate way because of their mistakes? Or because of somebody else’s mistakes? It is difficult to analyse for outsiders as why they had to suffer in life or why they have to live with pain throughout their life.  On accounting to overall outlook, in simple words we say they are very unlucky!

We actually considered two extreme cases, case-1 belongs to Elite class and Case-2 belongs to economically downtrodden or people with helpless situations. Let us consider aam-admi (common man), we often complain that we are not very rich, we are not so stylish and beautiful like celebrities, we are not so talented like someone who play some games or sports exceptionally well, etc. Let me conclude.

Conclusion: We need not be an expert or the best in something like how others do. Also, we should never compare our-self with others. There is no point in comparing our situation with others who have excelled in some field. You never know for what you are destined for. I am not suggesting that one should leave their life for destiny to decide. We should move on with our own way by doing the best we can do. We may not become an expert or specialist in certain field which we have chosen to excel. Despite of being highly successful, we would still lead a decent life with what we have.

If you think that wealth is everything, you may soon end up with lot of money, but other than money you may not have anything which you actually need. Rather than buying something, earning something gives us more satisfaction and peace. Money cannot buy many ­­­things. Money can only buy tangible things which can be seen and touched. Intangible things such as love, affection, care, respect, peace, etc. can never be achieved only with money. Love, affection, care, respect, peace and similar feelings can only be felt psychologically.

Still, if you say that you want to compare with others for social esteem, just compare with people who don’t have food, shelter and basic needs, you would realize that you are lucky to lead a decent life and you will also realize that you are lucky to have many things which others don’t even imagine to get in their life.
